Safari: building sustainable alliances for african refugees & immigrants
Direct support for community members in need plus connections to information and resources.
Education
Connecting community members with information and referrals to educational institutions and training, plus in-house basic English and computer skills.
Women's Groups
Meeting space at our Center for African Women, plus technical assistance and flexible funding for women to build social capital and meet key challenges.
Economic Empowerment
Employment training, financial literacy workshops, Certified Nursing Assistant training sponsorships and driver training scholarships.
Youth Development
Ongoing programming to meet the needs of young people in our community and amplify their strengths and aspirations.
civic engagement
Educating existing/new voters and connecting the community with local cities, King County, and WA Stateofficials, and giving voice on local issues.
Safety
Supporting community members who experience gender-based violence and other crime, and providing advocacy and referrals to service providers.
Housing
Case management for emergency support and long-term stabilization, plus flexible funding to re-house families or help them avoid losing their home.
Health and Wellness
Hosting education forums on mental health, healthy eating and active living, and supporting the wellbeing of our community members.
Environmental Justice
Bringing community voices to the table on environmental issues in our region, plus trainings and engagement with environmental groups to diversify the conversation.
