Since mid-March 2020, we closed our office for the public and continued our programs on virtual platforms such as Zoom and WhatsApp. We invested time and efforts to build the skills of our community members to feel comfortable accessing virtual platforms, not only to continue to participate in our programs but to access other services such as booking rideshare (Lyft), telehealth, distant learning...etc. We also started a Covid-19 Response Fund where we used grants from Seattle Foundation, Front & Centered, Social Justice Fund, Group Health Foundation, King County, City of Renton, United Way of King County, Sheng-Yen Lu foundation and public donations to meet our community basic needs including rent and utility assistance, diapers and clothing, cultural food and cleaning supplies as well as expanding our services by adding more staff. We partnered with Seattle/King County Public Health to disseminate timely- sensitive information and resources related to COVID and distributed masks and hand sanitizers. we invested in training the staff on critical issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault and mental health to be able to respond and support the community with resources and referrals as needed.
We continue to support the community to remain connected and feel supported and avoid isolation during these unprecedented difficult times.
